William C. Scott Named to Charlottesville Community Scholarship Program Board of Directors
March 16, 2010
William C. Scott IV, attorney with MichieHamlett, was recently named to the Charlottesville Community Scholarship Program.
The Charlottesville Community Scholarship Program is a unique public-private partnership established by the Charlottesville City Council in 2001. The Program provides assistance to low- and moderate-income graduates of Charlottesville, Lane and Burley High Schools, employees of the City of Charlottesville and the Charlottesville City Schools who wish to continue their education after high school.
Scotty focuses his practice entirely on domestic relations law including divorce, equitable distribution of property, custody, and child and spousal support. He graduated from the University of Virginia and from the George Mason University School of Law in 1994. Scotty handles cases primarily in the Charlottesville area; however, he tries cases as far away as Lynchburg, Richmond, Roanoke, Harrisonburg, Northern Virginia, and other areas of the state, and also handles appeals to the Virginia Court of Appeals.
Scotty has been with the firm since January 1996. He previously served as Law Clerk to the Circuit Court of the City of Norfolk, Virginia. He is a past chairman of the Family Law Section of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and a current member of the Board of Governors of the Family Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. He is also a frequent lecturer in CLE courses.
