William C. Scott “Scotty” Recognized for Service to the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association

William C. Scott IV, attorney with MichieHamlett, in Charlottesville, Va., was recently recognized by the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association for his service to the organization. He was honored for “his outstanding leadership and service to the association, the profession, and the public.” VTLA, representing more than 2,000 attorneys statewide, is dedicated to promoting professionalism within the trial bar, enhancing the competency of trial lawyers, and protecting and preserving the liberties, rights, and benefits of an efficient and constitutionally sound judicial system.

Scott served as chair of the VTLA Family Law Section. In that role, he helped oversee the Annual Family Law Seminar, which is held in four locations across the state and is designed to teach family lawyers about changes in the law and strategies to help clients and assist with litigation. During his tenure, he also served on the board of governors of the association.

Scott has been with the firm since January 1996. He focuses his practice entirely on domestic relations law, including divorce, equitable distribution of property, custody and child and spousal support. He handles cases primarily in the Charlottesville and surrounding counties area; however, he tries cases as far away as Lynchburg, Richmond, Roanoke, Harrisonburg, Northern Virginia, and other areas of the state.
